Product Information
Pet Odor XX is Chlorine Dioxide, which is an ideal product to remove urine odor and stain from carpets, bedding and furniture. It can be used when urine is fresh or old. It is most effective to immediately absorb fresh urine and pour a liberal amount of Pet Odor XX on the area, let set and blot up.
General Information About Urine Odors
Humans, dogs, cats and other animals have a product in their urine called uric acid. This chemical is the primary source of odor. If you can remove the urine before it dries you are far better off because the urine has to dry before the smell really starts. As urine dries and decomposes it goes through several changes.
At first, uric acid produces a gas that smells like ammonia. Once all the water has evaporated, the living organisms die leaving urea salt.
Next, further decomposition occurs when the urea salt is exposed to water (or water vapor) and materials containing hydrogen and sulfur, (dust mite bodies, dirt, etc.). This combination produces mercaptan gas that smell like rotten cabbage.
Pet Odor XX works on both stages of urine to penetrate the bacteria, neutralize the odor and permanently block the production of the undesirable gasses. It must come in direct contact with all the odor producing materials. It is necessary that you saturate the area and let set. You may have to repeat the process.
